Monday kicked off Bettendorf’s “Spread The Love Week” for students and staff.

The week celebrating all things love came about from last year’s cancellation of the winter formal. This year, student council decided to keep the love going.

“It started last year because the winter dance was canceled so the school created Formal Friday, and I liked it and was like we need to keep doing it,” said senior Loukia Constantinides.

The themes for the week started with anything but a backpack day on Monday, where students bring anything they can to carry their school supplies around.

When asked what freshman Timothy Dunn’s favorite day was he said no backpack day because he  wants to see “how that goes.”

To keep the week rolling, Tuesday is peace and love or dress like a hippie. Senior Constantinides encourages people to wear tye dye and not forget about the peace signs.

Wednesday is class color day: freshmen will wear pink, sophomores will wear white, juniors will wear red and seniors will wear their pjs. Since during homecoming there wasn’t a class colors week, it was highly requested to be brought back.

Thursday is throwback Thursday, where students and staff can revisit the past and bring out their style from back in their day.

“I have this really cute little outfit from when I was younger where it was monster high; I just want to recreate that,” said  Constantinides.

Friday is Formal Friday where students and staff are encouraged to wear their fanciest outfits.

Constantinides added that student council plans on having students promote dressing up through daily announcements.

The week is capped off with a pep assembly and an award presentation to the best dressed duo.
